LMC Manual

4'x 8' Pallet Configuration

The Laser Machining Center (LMC) can be upgraded to cut parts as large as 4'x8'. A 4'x8' loading table sits at the rear of the machine and the 4'x8' cutting pallet rolls completely out onto the table. This provides easy access for loading and unloading large and difficult to handle parts. The Laser Machining Center divides the 4'x8' job into two 4'x4' sections. After section one is cut, the machine unlocks pneumatic clamps and allows the operator to roll the pallet to its second cut section, where the pallet is again, precisely clamped into position. Following cutting of the second section, the z-axis returns to the level of the load table, and the pneumatic clamps are released. The operator can now roll the full pallet onto the load table for easy access.

The 4'x 8' pallet is precisely calibrated to ensure a precision match between the two cut sections. The pallet rolls on precision v-rails and the pneumatic clamps lock the pallets, with better than +/-.001" repeatability. The LaserLink software automatically divides the job into two sections, while the Laser Machining Center automatically ramps power at the meeting point to ensure a virtually blemish free meeting point.
